I love fall. The colors are startling beautiful. I love fall desserts. I love the feeling of a warm fire and apple cider on a chilly day.
I also despise it. It's the last hurrah before it's bare branches and snowflakes. Actually, I don't mind the snowflakes. I just hate the cold. It's so hard to have two little rugrats who need to be bundled everywhere we go.
You know what? Never mind. I'm going to make the best of it. Here are the winter positives:
1. We can play outside. Jack is 2 1/2 and can really enjoy the outdoors this year!
2. They can kind of dress themselves. Yes, we'll have sloppy wet clothes, but I'm going to come up with a drying solution in my mud room. I've been blessed with a really great big room inside the garage that I can come up with a better system than we've had in the past.
3. I have an electric blanket. I'll be warm at night. :)
4. And before it comes, I get to enjoy Autumn. I'm not going to let the winter 'foliage sleeping' season to bring me down. It's my choice, right?
Happy weekend, everyone!

I agree! Way to think positive! I'm going to take a page out of your book and do the same! Happy fall! Now if it would only quit raining......
You know, I sort of have a love/hate relationship with fall, too. I love so many of the things you mentioned. And apple cider. Plus, just seeing the hometown football lights brightening up the sky gives me warm fuzzies. :)
For some reason though, I get a little restless and introspective. Maybe it's the bluegrass music I enjoy in Autumn or the change in the air but I have this side of me that's spontaneous and drawn to unattachment and it can come out in full force in the fall. I'm in the car and I just want to turn on the radio and drive... and drive... and have no plan but just to explore and let life happen. That's the part I hate. I'm so incredibly blessed! What could I possibly be searching for that's not right in front of me? Anyway, that's my secret about fall. It's my favorite season and it brings about so much feeling in me. Some good, some annoying.
Oh, did you mention bonfires? I love bonfires!
I have no love/hate relationship with fall. It is all love, baby. Which is not to say that I love winter, but in my mind, fall has no relationship with winter at all. Good thing .. because I love love love fall, and I'd hate to sully that at all. :)
