Monster Cookies

This is the end result, but let's face it. The dough is every bit as good as the cookies.

Also, this recipe is half a recipe (thus the 2 1/2 eggs...just do your best). It still makes seven or eight dozen cookies.*

Monster Cookies:

1 c shortening or butter**
1 c brown sugar
1 c sugar
1 c peanut butter
2 1/2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 c oatmeal
1/2 lb m&ms
1/2 c chocolate chips

Mix butter, sugars, peanut butter, and eggs. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in oatmeal, m&ms, and choc chips. Bake for 9 minutes at 350 (that's the magic amount of time in my oven. Vary if you need to; do not overbake!)

As always, ENJOY!

* My cookies are not consistent in shape nor size. I hear there is a cookie-baller out there, but frankly, I'm not interested. My cookies have character. Laura's are just cuter. Pllbt.

** I use all butter or half of each.

My question now always is, is it going to be in the cookbook? Aunt Karen

They look YUMMY!!! It's not so possible to to make monster cookies nice and *cute*- they're not meant to be. Mine would probably just be half the size. I don't know why I make the one or two-bite cookies...

I love reading the monster cookie recipe- could a cookie get any less healthy??? But that's why they are so GOOD!

As for Autn Karen's comment, I'm thinking there may need to be additional editions to the cookbook...I'm sure Aunt Sarah would be thrilled with that. :D

Aunt Sarah has already told us to start saving recipes for a supplement that can be added at a later date. Being a 3-ring, we could do a supplement someday that would be easy to add to the current book without doing it all over. Aunt Karen

Ooh, good idea! I'm pretty sure I did not include this recipe. It's hidden in one of my cookbooks; not in my recipe book.

Elizabeth- strange but true: you do not have to make monster cookies with flour. My recipe doesn't have any. That's why people with celiac can eat these cookies. I'm going to have to go back and compare recipes real quick.

Yep. Mine's similar, except less butter, no salt, more PB, 3 full eggs, you get the picture...

Not that E. will even come back and read this comment...

thanks, Mindi ! I will remember that there are recipes w/out wheat, just in case my craving ever becomes too strong to ignore.

Of course, I had focaccia (sp?) at lunch today so clearly I am not doing so well at the no-wheat thing. ;)
