Summer Reading

Last week, I asked for summer book requests on facebook. I got such great recommendations!  Here are the books I'm holding until vacation...it's going to be really hard to keep my paws off of them for the next month!

Also, I just read:

The Tender Bar (a memoir) by J.R. Moehringer, a lovely book.  Might be my favorite memoir ever.
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant.  A must-read.

On my list at the library, waiting to come in:

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Baybery
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Half-Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty
One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus
East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Thank you to all my friends for the recommendations!

What did you think of The Red Tent? I LOVED it! I think it's a fun book to discuss as well. Maybe we'll have to start a book club or something :)

I loved it, Em. It was pretty sad, but a total page turner. I'm a bit of a feminist, so I love books like this!

I'd LOVE to be part of a book club!

I think we should do an online book club. :) I haven't read a few of the ones on your list, so I'm off to add them to my Amazon "to read" list! Happy reading, my friend!

Poisonwood Bible is supposed to be awesome. I can't wait to get my hands on it. The Red Tent- I've been meaning to read that one. Dragon Tattoo is on my list, I tried to read Lonesome Dove (just wasn't in a reading mood, I think), and East of Eden was a very unique and compelling read. Sort of how Pillars was to me. Very symbolic.

Good list! You did great.
