Julie...Libby...Katie...everyone else who is a photographer and reads my blog, I apologize for this picture. Some day I'll learn how to take beautiful pictures like you, I promise!
I bought these curtains for the world's best mother-in-law, Sherry. I have lived in this house for three years and I never had window treatments on my front window. That window faces the cul-de-sac. None of our neighbors have a direct view into our house, and it has never bothered me to be 'exposed.' (Besides, I am very close with our neighbors and I could care less if they see us in here at night) It has, however, bothered Sherry! She grew up in a home where it was her job to shut the shades at night and she does the same in her own house. She's on a through-street though where there are lots of passerby's. Anyway, she emailed me last week that LNT had all window treatments 40% off since they're going out of business.
And I must say, I really love them. (Although we'll have to replace the curtain rod...this was the only one they had left big enough for my window and it's not strong enough). It makes the room cozier. But I suspect I'll never close them. Except when my mother-in-law is visiting.

I love them, they look really nice!! I'm with your mother in law on this one, I really don't like the feeling of someone "possibly" watching me.*wink* During the day it doesn't bother me, but at night when it's dark, the first think I do is shut my curtains.
Looks good, Lea! See them in a couple days!
Looks great! I don't have curtains in my livingroom... I have two huge windows... I even bought some one day.. and they are sitting in my closet.
That's so funny! I love "bare" windows. Even though one living room window now looks out into a parking lot (behind trees), I still don't close blinds. I like my windows to be open. Joanna stayed over one weekend and she *made* me close my bedroom curtains! I just don't worry about such things - and also, I like the look of bare windows much better than I like the look of drapes (except if they're sheer, I do like sheer curtains - and I'm pretty sure I'd get the same responses then).
I can't believe you bought them! You didn't say anything! I guess I didn't think my hint was so obvious. I love them.
Love
Sherry, the mother-in-law
Looks great. That would have been one of the first thing I bought upon moving in. Curtains, always. Even if you don't close them (why wouldn't you? People can so easily be looking in and you not knowing, creepy.) they still warm up a room. A homey touch.
Darn rod is bent. Curtains are way too heavy.
I love Cory's comments .. lol .. and i hear ya abt the curtains lenny .. my mom bought me some after living here for years cuz it bothered her .. she said some guy could be watching me and doing something and i'd never know .. sigh .. so now i have curtains .. and i love them..guess they know a thing or too .. lol
Cory cracks me up how he pipes in on your blog comments occassionally. Plus, I still think his commentary about the bathtub is hilarious. Hey, have a grand Thanksgiving. I shall be in the same state, but too far away for a visit. SHOOT!
Leanne - that cracked me up. Totally something my mother would say - and has!
Anyhow, just popping in to say Happy Thanksgiving! Hope it's a lovely one.
Your friend,
Diane (JJG)
They look great, Leanne! I HAVE to close our curtains, or I feel like I'm living in a fish bowl. No likey....
You're darn good daughter-in-law for getting these to please your mom-in-law!
