Penney, Penny. Penny, Penney.

I'll get back to blogging about really serious stuff like appetizers and desserts this week, but I need to make an introduction.

Here is my Penney. She's pictured here with her darling girl Grace at our Easter Egg dying party last spring. Penney and I have a lot in common. We both grew up in large families (but I'm at the older end and she's the baby), our husbands are on the fire department together and we have three year olds (Grace and Matthew) and one year olds (Jack and Joey). We've spent a lot of time together the past four years because we have similar ideals and values and we started the parenthood journey together. It's a friendship of convenience (all those pregnant mornings at my house, huh, Penney?) and great love. Meet Penney.

This is my Penny. Not even sure why I call her that because her name is actually Peggy. Well, she calls me Lenny, so I'm sure it's some silly rhyming thing. She and I have known each other our whole lives, but became good friends after high school. We lived in Arizona together (she's pictured by "the ol' tercel" she drove so loyally for so many years) so we bonded then, and she's one of the most amazing people you'll ever meet. You will never be in a room with her and not laugh. We have a whole host of inside jokes and really stupid stories (I'm sorry for those that get published here). She has stood by me through everything in my life and I love her more than she probably even knows. Meet Penny.

ahh Leanne that was so sweet! Although I don't miss being pregnant I do miss all the mornings over there. :) Many wonderful memories sitting in your kitchen as we talked above all the noise as fire trucks were being raced down the halls and cracking up at Matty and Grace "dancing" in the livingroom. OH and poor Jack Jack being mugged by Joey who just wants to HUG him :)

Hello Penney and Penny! :)

I forgot about Jack and Joey's relationship when Joey could walk but Jack couldn't! Those days will be memories that I will keep forever. I do miss it. I loved having you over first thing in the morning (sometimes by 8:00!). You have been as much as a sister to me as anything. I know you know that, but it is worth remembering from time to time.

Thanks for the intros, Lea! You talk about this Penney so much and now it's nice to have a face to "my friend Penney". The other Penny (aka Peggy) is one of those always constant people! I, too am thankful to have her in my life. A bunch of laughs and she is one that I know will always be there. There is something about the friends that never change!

WOW! A whole post about me and other friend Penney. She looks like someone I'd want to be friends with too! You and Amy how sweet! I'm happy to have you two in my life too! It's so great to have good pals! Just what I needed this morning.

Plus, I'm so glad you have such a recent photo of me. That is so me nowadays, just worried about driving around in my ol tercel with Def Lepperd blaring and smoking butts. Except you always were hot and I was always cold. We always fought about that.

Penny! How come you never include yourself in family Christmas pics or something! I don't have a single more recent picture...that one is what...13 years old? Oh yeah! I love the ol' tercel. And I miss it. Sigh.

It's good to meet Penney. I haven't seen Peggy in years, but I do remember that she always made me laugh. Come to think of it, I was going through my old letters and found one that she wrote me from AZ; it made me laugh, many many years later. :)

Nice to meet another Penny/Penney. This world needs a whole lot more of 'em.

Peggy just told me the other day that she really wanted to be featured on your blog, so I am glad that her wish came true!!
you are great Peg.

Amy L-BIG FAT LIE! Never said that. Anyway Leanne, the reason she said that is 'cuz I'm famous for BFL's here too. Member them?
Libby-I wrote you a letter? Don't think I want to know what I wrote! Good to hear from you
Mindi-We should have more of you. Everyone likes you after all!
This makes me smile and miss you all! Except Amy L-I see her all the time.
Peggy

Well, Peggy I like you also. :)

Penney, I think I've only met you once, but I like you too! :)

Didn't mean to leave you out Laura. Course I like you too, you are a part of one of my favorite families after all!

Amy L tells BFLs?! That's so fantastic (and I bought it).
Remind me of the best BFL you ever told. I can't really remember any. But I do remember when you hung that note up in the breakroom that said, "My name is April and I'm looking for someone to take my breaks with. Call extension 101." April was your co-worker. That was a pretty funny prank.

Oh, and I totally remembered today..."What now, Lenny?" As if I was nothing but an annoyance to you. :)

Oh, and Peg? Time for your own blog. You can call it "Big Fat Lies and Other Important Stories." I cannot imagine how hysterical your blog would be.

MindiJo said...

I'm dying of laughter. It will just always be the same with you two, won't it?
Amy L- love the BFL. That is the best. Especially now, knowing it was a BFL.
Lena- if Pegs doesn't do a blog named that, you should for sure do a post about it.
Pegs- you are way too sweet.

Between this and the Ted Danson hot name game, I'm missing those days.

Leanne said...

And I forgot all about Lena. ME TOO, Mindi. I think we took for granted the "carefree" feeling of those days. Almost no consequences to our actions (well, that we know of) and almost constant hysteria.

I'm loving your blog today too.

MindiJo said...

I kid you not: I just laughed hysterically so that my belly hurt and I had tears running down my face over Amy L's BFL. She totally got me and it was a good one, too!

Leanne said...

I know. I strutted around all day thinking that I totally made Peg's day. That this is something she had been pining for and on some deep spiritual level, I knew it. Hilariously deflated balloon! Good job, Amy!

Leanne said...

Mindi - you had the red cutlass? How come I don't remember your car at all? Did you always make me drive?

MindiJo said...

I'm dying of laughter again. You always wanted to drive. Maybe you were scared to ride with me. I can't believe you don't remember. I had almost the exact same car as you. 'Cept mine was waaaay nicer. Prolly I had a better job. :)
Really, though, that is my favorite car to date.

MindiJo said...

You must have ridden with me at least once if Katie has that memory.

Leanne said...

Oh, cause you and Katie couldn't have played it without me? I suppose not...this game should not be played without one of the originators available to referee...as is evidenced on your blog! It's a hard game!

Yes, I do remember the red cutlass now. Totally. But my job was way better. Remember I worked at Polaris???

You guys are too much. Yep...poor Heather at my work (not April). She was like 45, and I totally picked on her. Left a note in the breakroom saying "I'm looking for someone to have lunch with. If you're available come see me in accounts receivable." Poor Lady.

Plus, Lenny called me constantly at work and bugged me. As if I didn't see her enough since she lived with me. She loved me so much.

Except she hated when I took her brand new PEOPLE magazine that she subscribed to and always read it before her. Especially when I took it in the hottub once and dropped it. Instead of offering to buy her a new one, I said "No biggee, it will dry." She had to read the wrinkled crinkly pages. HA!

I really was a pain in the ellie-ass.

Pegs, I remember one time you went to Chi Chi's with me and some other people and you would totally drink your pop as fast as you could, because it was free refills and you had never heard of such a thing. It was great - you were pretty young, but that is a memory I have of you.

Leanne said...

And she never slowed down, she still does several refills per restaurant visit!

MindiJo said...

Might as well get your money's worth.
Wow, did you read Peg's blog? Apparently Heather did not take the teasing too well. Sounds like Heather's daughter is pretty mad about it.
Hope that doesn't burst Peg's blogging bubble.

Peggy said...

Tara-I'm all about the free pop and what not.

Mindi-Heather is totally unmarried with no kids.
