Tonight I put the boys in the bath. While they were playing, I cleaned the bathroom (can't say I'm not productive!). Cole was watching them while I went to get their pjs. Suddenly, Matty said that Jack had pooped in the bath. He wasn't kidding. YUCK. Cole went running. I made Matty and Jack stand up and cleaned them with clean water.
Now, I'm a pretty good multi-tasker, but it's REALLY hard to dress two boys after a bath at the same time. I mean, you gotta make sure they're not freezing, one's not peeing on the floor, etc. So I asked Cole if he'd please put a diaper on Jack. He'd never done it before it turned out, and it made for the most hysterical part of the evening. I explained it to him in a hurry, and he did what I said, and mission was accomplished. This is the outcome.
*NOTES: Please notice Jack's adorable little boy haircut in the first picture. Additionally, please feel free to make suggestions for his horrible dry skin (like you can see in the second picture)

Davin and I were watching a very intense moment in a drama (NCIS), when I read this post and started to laugh out loud. Davin's like "what the...?"
Hilarious!
Hilarious! Aveeno on the skin-everyday. All I can do for Rita, poor thing.
I do Aveeno. Twice a day. He got really bad skin. Poor baby.
Have you tried coconut oil?
No. Do I put it in the bath?
Rub it over all dry areas- if it seems to oily, you can mix it with lotion.
too
Oh, and do it right after baths. Also, you probably already know this, but have you cut back on baths? If you can keep it to just a few a week, that would be best.
Hm, guess you don't have to be a mom to have little bits of advice. :P
I'm a 'huge fan of Eucerin... but my kids skin isn't horrible I don't think... just normal yucky winter skin... but it does work well.
I've also been trying Eucerin. Not helping. Laura - he has a bath every day. I know that doesn't help AT ALL but he stinks. And he puts syrup in his hair.
You have to cut back on baths!! Find something else to make him less stinky. Like lotion. Wash just his hair. Seriously! I have kids who can't have more than two, maybe three baths a week. That's just the way it is. Zane has an aunt and uncle who make this wonderful soap. I should get some for you. It's great for Eczema. Is this just normal dry skin? It should work for that.
I know the weirdest thing that works for eczema: have a dog lick the skin. Serious. Sounds strange, but it works for whatever reason. Don't knock it till you try it!
Oh, crap. I do not want to get a dog just to fix the dry skin.
tee-hee .. I always tell Atlas that he needs to get a job to help support himself. Perhaps I can hire him out as a cure for eczema .. ;-)
Oh, that is adorable - and so funny!
I can just feel that this comment is going to be long. I don't know how people always say things in so few words! It's just not in me. ;)
Carter has the same skin. Although, his is better now than it used to be. When he was a bit younger (insert 'wee bit' younger seeing as he's so old now) I used *pure unrefined Shea Butter* on his skin after my sister-in-law, Suzy, recommended it, after his baths and I was amazed how well it worked.
Right now I just use the Huggies Shea Butter baby lotion. And I use the Huggies Shea Butter baby wash/shampoo on him. (I never use soap or anything else.)
We have the same problem of daily baths in our house. Although, this winter I've tried switching to every other day.
I have severely dry skin, myself, and ever since I tried Gold Bond Ultimate Softening - Shea Butter lotion (last year) my skin problems have all but disappeared. I put it on every night after my shower.
I swear by the stuff because I've used everything under the sun in my lifetime! And nothing else has gotten rid of the dryness - except maybe Eucerin but I don't like the 'oily' feel of it. This stuff isn't oily. Just creamy and moisturizing!
It's gentle enough for your face, so it should be gentle enough for your little man. I hope you find something. Poor little guy! He and Carter could be twins with that skin.
He looks adorable with his haircut. Funny, how they look so much older each time they get a cut.
He looks like such a big boy with his haircut! Yay, can I give my two cents on the bath thing? I use a bath butter that I buy from my mom- you just put it right in the bath and it dissolves. If you want to try make something kind of similar, add coconut oil and olive oil (you don't need much) right in the bath as it's running. When you're drying him off after, sort of "blot" him dry. Follow with a moisturizer. California Baby makes great products for sensitive skin (Gregory breaks out from a lot of things but not their products) and although I have yet to try it, they say that their Calendula cream helps eczema. Target has started carrying some of their products.
Shea butter is awesome too but don't use it if you have a latex sensitivity. Some people's eczema worsens from using it if they don't know they're sensitive to latex. Anyway, that is my BOOK on the matter!
Julie, that is so interesting. (I'm taking notes on your comment for my own little guy!) :)
I've never heard the 'latex' thing before. Do you know if that would be a problem with pure organic unrefined shea butter? Or just processed versions?
Maybe I can google to see what I find!
That diaper is hilarious. I have to tattle on my dad...the first time "Grandpa and Grandma" were left with my nephew Anders when he was a baby, I came over to find that baby Anders was wearing an inside-out diaper. Grandpa hadn't changed a diaper since they were cloth. :)
On another note, my niece, Maren, has had horribly dry skin. After buying stock in all sorts of lotion manufacturing companies, it's boiled down to allergies. Poor babes.
Sometimes it is as much what goes in your body as what goes on your skin. Bruce had eczema when he was little, and our chiropractor told me to give him flax seed oil everyday. When I consistently gave it, his skin cleared up; if I got lazy and skipped it would flare up again. I put a tablespoon into applesauce and mixed it up real well, he would eat it fine. I remember that the chiro had me get a really good brand of flax seed oil, I don't remember the brand, but I know it had to be refrigerated and wasn't real cheap. Skin problems are often related to a lack of essential fatty acids - give it a try, it might work wonders like it did for Bruce.
