1. I Love My Mom.

I had to seek permission to post this story because my mom is sort of...well, not pro-blog. She likes that I'm doing it (far be it from her to disagree with anything her kids do :)) but she doesn't really want to be part of it. But this story begged telling, and she okay. It was Gina who told me the story originally, and I'll try to tell it as simply as I can, there are people whose names I do not have permission to use.

We had a family friend pass away last week, Carol. She was my dad's cousin as well, and a neighbor where I grew up. Carol had many children and and grandchildren. One of Carol's sisters lives a few hours from where my family lives. That sister has a daughter who my mom doesn't know. When Carol was sick, that daughter came over to my mom's house to drop something off. When she told my mom that it wasn't going very well, my mom hugged this cousin's-daughter-who-she-hadn't-met for a long time. [Note: my mom will hug anyone she thinks needs it. She's there for everyone, always.]

At the reviewal, my mom saw the cousin's daughter and they smiled at each other in recognition. My mom said to her cousin who was standing next to her, "I really like your daughter. I don't know how my heart knows her, but it does."

My mom's heart knows everyone. (She did not give me permission to gush, but in the spirit of my Month of Love blog, she'll just have to suffer. ) She is one of those people who loves everyone, and everyone loves her.
I hope I'm just like her when I grow up.

Yeah, so not Mom to have ANYONE gush about her, but being she doesn't "do" blogs she'll never know and we get to brag about the most wonderful Mother in the world! I hope that others get to feel this way about their Mom's as well. A blessing indeed. Share the love month is fun! I hope that I can be as fair as her when I grow up, too. It seems like a good goal!

I don't know anyone who doesn't love Sandra. And her daughters are so much like her. All loveable.

This is such a sweet post about your mom.

Miss Leanne, This is a warm and fuzzy post! I have always had a warm spot for your Mom, as her Mom is very dear to my mom (marilyn loves LT)...I digress. I always feel shy when I go to a cowtown function (why? I spent half my youth at the DQ), but your Mom always, ALWAYS, makes me feel welcome, and talks to me, and I really appreciate it.

I love Sandra too. She's so fantastic. And she throws such good parties. Imagine that. Great post Lenny!

I once told mom that if I could be half the mom that she is, I'll be doing great. She of course poo-poo's that but I truly meant it. So far I'm as hyper as she is laid back. But her kindness, I'm trying super hard to inherit all of that. I like Leanne's BE NICE sign that she has in her house. Wouldn't that be cool if everyone was just nice?

Shari

Elbo -how the heck are ya? I tried to post a message in your blog but I don't have a blog so...
I miss you! I think about you often. Please call us if you ever come to the U.P. We have lots of catch up to do, like years of it. (Thanks Lea for the opportunity for this side note)

We all love your mom. She's a very special person and will always hold a dear place in my heart. Or in her words, my heart knows her, too.

I like that.

First I saw the picture- love it. Then I read the post- love it. Then I thought about Mom- LOVE her. Now I'm reading the comments, and feel even more love. Crazy love month.

For real, if there is such thing as a heart of gold, she owns it.

I love you, Mom, who is not reading this.

P.S. Shari- now that you mention it- where in the world did you inherit your hyperness???

I always loved staying at your mom's when I was out in MN. It was like home away from home. I remember one time, a friend and I didn't have anywhere to stay for a night and she lived in the cities. It was past our curfew, so I thought maybe we could check your house and see if the doors were locked. they weren't, so we snuck in, and I think slept in the living room. When Aunty Sandy woke up, she acted as if it was totally normal for her niece to be sleeping in her living room when she wasn't there when she went to bed, and proceeded to make us breakfast. :)

Laura - I always that my hyperness and restlessness was Grandma T - she's always on the go but it just crossed my mind that maybe it's really from Dad. Before he had parkinsons he couldn't sit still for anything. It was torture for him to come up here cuz he had to sit around so much. So, who knows. Anyway, as long as were talking about love I must mention that I love him too. The inability to express emotions (I sometimes have that issue too), in case your wondering Laura, that definately comes from him.

One of the greatest things about living across the road from your mom is the 'open pantry' status we share. We are always borrowing baking ingredients from each other; we would never dream of driving to town for one missing ingredient without calling across the road first. Imagine all the money we've saved each other in gas through the years! A life (and gas) saver of a friend!

Cheryl~ I don't recall any driving - more like sending kids back and forth. :D I remember walking or biking a time or twenty over to get sugar. Or eggs. Or vanilla.

LOL! Hilarious, Cheryl. I totally remember going over to get an onion from Sandy for you. That makes me laugh.

This has been fun to read. I'll print it out for her birthday or something...by then it'll be too late for her to be mad at me. :)

Your mom is a gem, a total sweetheart. I adore her! She has done so much for our family the last year and has always had time to stop, smile and ask people how they are. She seems to really want to know the answer, too! :) Not too many Sandy's in this world. Plus, she makes awesome cookies.

Mindi's right, her daughters share many of her wonderful qualities.

We love her here too.

I love Sandra too! I do not think there is a person out there who does not feel welcome and special around her. Besides she is the only person around that can make Willmar cookies:)
